Update: Hockey Players No Longer Spartans; Raymar Morgan Still Ailing

Players Dismissed

Corey Tropp and Andrew Conboy will no longer be playing hockey at Michigan State University, Coach Rick Comley announced just one day after suspending the two. “It was a tough decision, but the right decision,” said Comley about the dismissal.

The rest of the Spartans’ team sent a get-well card to Wolverine Icer, Steve Kamfer, after the “violent attack” over the weekend.

Senior goaltender Jeff Lerg remarked on the unfortunate incident:

“It’s an unfortunate situation,” said Lerg. He added, “It’s something you never want to see happen.”

The Spartans will square off against the Lakers of Lake Superior State this weekend.

Mysterious Virus

Passing the two week mark, MSU Junior Forward, Raymar Morgan, is still ailing from an unknown virus, reports the Detroit News’s Eric Lacy. Doctors have already ruled out both the flu and mono, but Morgan remarked that he is still having trouble breathing and has “a real bad cough right now.”

Morgan and Izzo are both optimistic; however, Morgan will probably be limited to 20 minutes of playing time against the Hawkeyes on Thursday. The Spartans will need Morgan’s size against a smaller Iowa team.
