Michigan State head football coach, Mark Dantonio, will welcome what could be his last four football recruits to the campus of Michigan State University this weekend. These recruits will visit on the heels of this week’s announcement that Dantonio signed Orchard Lake St. Mary’s star, Dion Sims. Sims, a 6-foot-5, 230 pound tight end, is also a basketball recruit for Coach Tom Izzo. Sims is expected to play football in the fall, and upon completion of the season (or a bowl) join the basketball team.

The four new recruits this weekend include:

6-foot-6, 220-pound defensive end, Michael Buchanan, from Illinois. Buchanan is considered a four-star prospect and ranked the #15 tight-end by Rivals.com.

Also, 6-foot-3, 230-pound three-star prospect Bernardo Nunez from New Jersey. Nunez is rated the # 42 defensive end by Rivals.com

The third recruit that is expected to visit after his trips to Iowa and Oklahoma State, is Florida-based safety Jairus Jones. Rivals has Jones ranked as the # 68 overall athlete in the 2009 recruiting class.

Finally, Dantonio and his staff will welcome the 6-foot-6, 295 pound offensive lineman, Henry Conway, from Cleveland, Ohio. Conway is also being highly recruited by Boston College and Illinois.

These four recruits will be visiting on a good weekend considering the Spartan Basketball Team will welcome the much-improved Illinois Fighting Illini to the Breslin Center on Saturday afternoon. As per usual, Spartan Basketball fans can probably expect to see these faces in the crowd sitting behind the Spartan bench, as Izzo is also one of the football program’s biggest recruiters.

One thing’s for sure: one or two of these recruits may be left in the dust as Dantonio’s program is only expected to sign two or three more scholarship players maximum.

Things seem to be looking up for the Spartans’ football program. Expectations will probably be high in East Lansing next fall, as they should be.
